Livelihood Support Work

Alongside our central focus on connecting and community-building, we recognise that many people in our neighbourhoods are facing daily pressures on their lives through a lack of employment and/or a low income, inadequate access to healthcare and other essential public services, poor housing, and mental and physical health challenges. These can all present barriers to living flourishing lives, and to participating in the wider life of our local community.

Instead of treating people as recipients of yet another form of ‘service provision’, or as coming with ‘problems to be fixed’, we are committed to journeying alongside people over the long-term, supporting people to build up and strengthen the different components of their ‘livelihood’ (e.g. financial, physical, relational, etc) in ways that enable them to feel more confident, equipped and resilient to face future challenges. This includes an ongoing relationship of 1-to-1 support and coaching, and supporting people to participate in other local groups and activities, as well as signposting people to specialist external support services where appropriate.
